Episode Ten and Again and Again

Has it really been nearly a month? Geez. So sorry. Thomas has been in rehearsal and shows, and I've been lollygagging rather than editing. Oh, and running trials and prepping for a job interview.

You know, life!

Without further ado, here is episode ten!

Leave us a comment or send us an email.

Keep on kickin' it!

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

We mention this in the next cast (10) but I thought I would post it here now so people could take a look. This is part of the reason my, and therefore our, schedule has been out of whack. Take a look.

Episode Nine: Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo Extravaganza!

With all humility I present to you Episode Nine! of The Most Popular Podcast in the Known Universe!

This week: The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.

There are some sound issues, due to the anti-acoustic properties of the environment in which most of the episode was recorded, but hopefully you can look beyond that to listen to the great interview with Rob Heinsoo (which is not pronounced like you think it is) and Robin D. Laws.

Their game credits include such things as, oh, I dunno, Dungeons and Dragons. Listen to the episode for more.

There's also a handful of great little floor chats with convention-goers, including Edmonton-based costumers Sew Long Ago.

This is perhaps not our funniest episode ever, but it's some damned fine content, and we'll be back to our usual format for the next ep. In fact, we'll probably do a lot of commentary on the Expo.

Real Life Intervenes

Seriously, seriously sorry for no updates lately.

I've been slammed at work, our interview with Riley Rossmo had some major technical issues, and now I have stomach flu.

Something new soon, I promise. Episode 7 is recorded, it just needs editing... and I hope to be healthy enough within the next day or so.

Episode Six, ultra-fast edition

So if you find two hours to be too much of an investment, here's the Slimline Edition of Episode Six.

Coming in at a tidy 57:22, it's lean, mean, and... well... slightly less funny, because apparently when one is cutting for time, one is more critical of which jokes to keep.

Anyway, I'll probably be doing Slimline Editions of any episode that goes over 60 minutes, or over 90 if there's an interview. Enjoy!

Episode Six: Four Chickens and a Digital Tambourine

Okras and Gentlebeans, we present to you: Episode Six of Lazy Bastard Radio, the Most Popular Podcast in the Known Universe!

This week we have another long episode -- almost exactly two hours -- but it's some of our finest yet. We had a whopping four hosts, with both LBR North and our Occasional Guest Host sitting in and bringing you the best in science, media, comic books, and all the other amusing things that tickle your nerdy little funnybones.

I had a spot of trouble with Mixcraft, which is why this is going up so late, but I muddled through it, and it turned out to be a much simpler fix than I had thought. Shouldn't happen again.

To our gentle listeners: As your homework assignment for this week, how about everybody telling us who they are and where they are listening from? An email (lazybastardradio AT gmail DOT com), a comment here, or something on our Facebook page, so we know you're out there. We love doing this, but we'd love it even more if we knew we weren't just staring into the Abyss... because you know what that causes... That's right: facehuggers. Also, we can give you a shout-out on next week's show (or not, if you prefer)!

Until next time, keep your moist bits moist and your stinky bits clean!

PS: It's worth noting that we know that Corey was wrong about McLuhan's famous quote, although he did write a book with that title.

PPS: Firefighters, for those who were unaware.

LBR on CityTV Calgary

Watch this space for my interview about Empire Avenue, with Mike Yawney, the tech guy from CityTv Calgary's Breakfast Television.

No episode 5 (yet)

As you probably noticed, we didn't do an episode this week. That's becauase, as we mentioned in episode 4, we were moving. We did sit down to record, but my microphone was broken. So.

We are all settled in, and I got my headset exchanged, so we ought to be ready to rock this coming weekend. We may even do two episodes this week to try and get back on track, depending on scheduling.

Keep on listening and telling your friends!

Empire Avenue

We just got hooked up to Empire Avenue, some kind of new social networking virtual stock market. Check it out, sign up for a beta key, and follow us! Make us Internet famous!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

You may have all noticed that we haven't had streams of the last few episodes. That's because it's tough to find places that will let us upload large files for free, so we can then stream them. We'll probably get around to doing streams once we have enough listeners to justify paying for hosting.

Any thoughts?

Episode 4 back up and running

The previous link should work again, and if you're impatient, it's also right here: Episode Four.

Episode 4 temporarily unavailable

Making a quick edit on episode 4. It'll be back up shortly.

Episode Four: Zombies, Farts, and World War One

Episode Four of the Most Popular Podcast in the Known Universe, with special guest host, and an interview with Joshua Hoiberg of the Bureau of the Zombie Research and Defence is up and running. Download to your heart's content!

Hey everyone, New episode coming up this weekend, We have our aforementioned interview with the B.Z.R.D's Josh Hoiberg, as well as a look at Bioshock 2, current news where we refuse to talk about Tiger woods, and so much more. We may even give you a behind the scenes discussion of our (soon to be) award winning commercial filmed with local Indie director Erin Sneath. Tune in, have your friends tune in, have you're parents tune in, have your friends parents tune in. We'll take anyone, we're not discerning.

Interview complete

So, that went well!

Now... I've never EDITED an interview before. This cast is really testing my ability to stay "lazy"...

Keep your ears glued to this website!

If you'd like to attend the Zombie Survival Training, send an email to bzrd AT live DOT com, or stop by Another Dimension Comics or Phoenix Comics North (16th ave location) in Calgary.

Episode Four coming soon

For episode four, we've got a great guest lined up! Joshua Hoiberg of Calgary's own Bureau of Zombie Research and Defence!

We're just looking to set up a time and place for the interview. If you have any questions -- zombie-related or otherwise -- you'd like us to ask Joshua, either post here in the comments, tweet it at us, or email us at lazybastardradio AT gmail DOT com.

Tell your friends! Lazy Bastard Radio: Not only The Most Popular Podcast in the Known Universe, but now also the Best Source of Anti-Undead Information Ever Known! Episode Three Supplemental: Lazy Bastard Radio North

So, originally, we'd planned on having Lazy Bastard Radio North on as a co-host, but due to scheduling issues, it just didn't happen that way. Instead, once Thomas had run off to do his actor thing, Corey and I sat down via the webs and did this supplement.

It's pretty heavy on gamer content, but don't let that make you nervous. Enjoy!

Episode Three: Olympics, Box Wine, and Serial Killers

Episode Three of The Most Popular Podcast in the Known Universe is here for your amusement.

We actually experimented with editing in this one, which led to a bit of a screw-up, and I somehow erased the last few minutes. I don't know if we lost anything important... but, as I keep saying, learn by doing.

Keep your eyes on this space for the supplement, wherein I interview Corey, from Lazy Bastard Radio North!

Headset microphone upgrade!

I know there have been some issues with sound quality in the previous episodes, but I have recently picked up a fancy new headset with microphone that ought to clear up the problem. Another advantage is that it will force us to record everyone's dialogue on separate tracks (unless we have multiple "remote" guests) which ought to make any needed editing much easier.

Lemon Challenge

Okay, here we have the Lazy Bastard Radio Crew taking up a challenge laid down by the boys at Loading Ready Run.

Enjoy, I know we didn't

Episode Two: New York schools suck, bison buying, rude nebulae

Welcome back to the most popular podcast in the known universe!

Here's Episode Two to download.

We have no idea why the volume is as "off" as it is. We'll have to figure it out as we go.

Streaming up when we get it up, and shownotes probably tomorrow.

Slight problem with the hosting. All better now. Download away!

Can't use the streaming player?

We've had some reports of people not being able to use the streaming player to listen to the show. Serendipitously, that's because of something mentioned IN the show: Google is no longer supporting a lot of their applications in Internet Explorer. Apparently the Google streaming player is one of those applications.

Now, the all-inclusive thing to do would be to find a different streaming player that was IE-compatible, but seriously, why aren't you people using Firefox or Chrome yet?

Both are faster and more stable than IE, and less-prone to malicious attacks. Chrome is really stripped-down, so I'd totally recommend it for older computers or netbooks.

New podcast soon! We were going to do it last night but I got in later than planned. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Shownotes up for episode one

It took me for bloody ever, but I finally got the timestamps and shownotes up for episode one. Also, I'm doing whatever I can to associate the words "the most popular podcast in the known universe" with our cast, so if you link to us and use those words, there's a prize in it for you! (note: there may not be a prize; prize may have no cash value)

Woo new recording software!

I downloaded the trial version of Mixcraft today, and it looks like it will do what Audacity couldn't: cost me $70! I mean, uh, allow us to record both sides of a VoIP of web-chat conversation. Which means we can do remote interviews! And have guests! And all that other brilliant podcastery!

Sunday, January 31, 2010

First post!

Alright, so, this is the first entry on the Lazy Bastard Radio official blog. I'm in the process of uploading episode one, so expect to see it soon!

PS: I have no idea why this updated AFTER all that other stuff... learn by doing!

I can't figure out how to embed a player at this point. Work will continue...

And there we go, thank god for free hosting sites. embedded for your entertainment.
